There are several shops in Shanghai worth trying and one of them is this authentic place for xiao long bao.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;This little shop located near the Park Hotel is pretty popular for tourists and locals. I had little trouble finding the place and if you are unable to locate this place try asking the locals and they will be more than happy to help you. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;The 'xiao long bao' is very tasty and has loads of soup in it for you to slurp and tantalise your taste buds when you take a bite. The two most famous dumplings in the shop are both the crab and pork ones or just ask the lady at the counter she will be more than happy to help you. The other famous shop that sells tasty portugese egg tart in Macau is Margaret O Nata's.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Margaret's Cafe portugese egg tart is comparable to Lord Stow's bakery in Macau, Coloanne. Which is better? It is difficult to choose between the two but I find Margaret's 'pou tart' ( that's what they would say in Cantonese) is a bit more crispier! &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;In terms of location, Margaret's Cafe e Nata is located in Macau main island so definitely more convenient for tourists. It taste good and the curry is not too spicy. There are many varities of this noodle soup and there is one famous stall in Ipoh that is for you to try.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;This stall is actually famous for beef brisket (ngau lam) noodles but since I am not a fan of beef brisket I opt for the usual safe option of beef ball instead of the briskets.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The beef ball is nice and springy and the soup clear and tasty. And not to forget the chilly sauce is special. However, to find good ones is not easy. Most of the time, you would find the tau fu fah too lumpy and thick.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;In Ipoh, there is a nice little stall that sells good tau fu fah. It is pretty famous in Ipoh and most people would know it. I even saw tours buses stopping by and looks like it is a tourist attraction.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The tau fu fah is soft and silky. The texture is smooth. The tau cheung( soya bean drink) is nice as well. However, be fore-warned the tau fu fah 's portion is small. If you like 'wat tan hor',( fried noodle with egg gravy) this shop is for you to try.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The 'wat tan hor' is bit different from the ones you find elsewhere. The  version of this dish has more gravy than the usual. The 'sar hor fun' noodles in this dish is ultra ' silky and soft'. The gravy is ultra nice as well. What is special in this dim sum place is the well -preserved interior which brings you back to the olden days of 1960's.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Yes, this dim sum place is about 40 years ago and I don't think the interior has changed much since it has been opened. There is a nice exhibition of paintings, calligraphies and antiques for you to view in this place and they are pretty old.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Oh, the dim sum is pretty nice too. Although the selection is limited, you could get the authentic char siew pau( pork bun), gai geok( chicken feet) and siew mai ( pork dumpling). The portions are a bit bigger than the usual ones you get. And the tea is stored in big jars which you could choose from. The pork chop is often very crispy and not oily sandwiched in a soft bun. The unique thing about this is the pork chop is deep fried but the oil does not soak into the bun. I have not eaten this elsewhere and I wonder why most places do not serve this but only in Macau.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;There are many places in Macau that sells this. The most famous is Tai Lei Loi Kei in Taipa but this photo of the pork chop bun is from another shop. This dish is made of noodle in icey cold soup served with boiled egg and some raw vegetables. Yes, it is very different from the usual hot soup with noodles in Oriental dishes. It is mostly served in summer in Korea to cool the hot weather. It was originally derived in North Korea.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;This dish is very popular among the Koreans and I think that it is an acquired taste. I did not fancy it but if you have not tried it you might as well give it a go to see it you share the same opinion as me or not. However, I have noted lately that the portion has shrunk and the soup a bit more diluted than it used to be. It could be the economy crisis that ingredients are getting a bit more expensive! It was discovered since 1837( yes the year is correct)&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;Well, if you ask me, I actually like the improvised version that you could find in Asia. The original version is more bland and the taste less strong compared with the ones you could find from Macau/Asia. I have tasted the egg tarts at Margaret's and to be honest I do not know which one is better. You could let me know.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Besides Coloane is a nice village to visit. Small and peaceful, lovely for a stroll and 'digest' the air of Macau. Okay in English, it is called thousand egg congee/porridge.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;This congee could not be found in Malaysia. Yes, you will have to fly all the way to Hongkong and try this congee. Of course, you could find this version in Malaysia but what I mean is the taste.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Well, the reason why I rave about this is because in Hongkong, this shop in particular you could taste the thousand egg in the congee itself and it is just not when you bite the egg. To be honest, I have not been to many towns in Malaysia and my holidays have always been spent going to Ipoh for a foodie hunt. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;One of my favourite noodle shop sells Hakka noodles. This is one of the best in town that I have tasted. The noodles is nicely cooked with a nice topping of fried mince pork. The chilli blends well with the noodles and you could choose the different types of meat balls, squid balls to go with it!&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;The service is pretty quick as well. It is basically a combination of flat noodles in clear soup served with boiled chicken in soya sauce. And there is a plate of bean sprouts in soya sauce to go with it. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The simplicity of this dish does not mean that you could cook this dish at home. It looks simple but if you ask around for the recipe, it never taste like the one you get from this shop. The chicken is just nicely done, the texture of the meat is just nice. Not too soft and not too hard. And perhaps the best is the soya-sauce based juice. You could have a bite on the chicken and the juice soaks into the chicken meat just right! &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The bean sprouts that accompany the dish is super crunchy. How about a glass of Ipoh Ice White Coffee ?&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;There's a constant battle on where is the best Ipoh White Coffee in town. Some say it is Suan Yuan Foong others say it's Suan Yuan Loong. And Nam Heong is another name constantly mentioned by bloggers and fellow Malaysians.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;But there's a coffee shop that I think serves the best coffee in town. I have a few relatives who lives in Ipoh and they brought me there and indeed it tastes great. The coffee aroma is strong and the coffee is milky which I love. It is not too sweet and there is enough ice to make it icey cold!! Perfect for the humid weather. This is a must stop for visitors to Ipoh. Maybe for coffee lovers you could go around tasting which serves the best ice coffee. There are all located in close vicinity around each other. You can hunt down every single pasar malam in Malaysia and still do not find the similar taste to this stall. The soup is delicious and one taste of it makes you wanna drink the whole bowl of soup. And the noodles is cooked to al-dente , not too soft and still springy with one bite on it. And if you look around the tables, you could see that the whole bowl of soup is empty , ravished to the last bit !&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;And the price is really cheap ..
